From November through the end of March, weather permitting, every child at CPE 1 ice skates weekly with his or her class at Lasker Rink in Central Park. This is a program that began over 30 years ago and is an important part of your child’s physical education at CPE 1. It is not optional. The cost of the program is $30.00 per year per child. Scholarships are available if parents ask. The school will loan skates for the season to any child who does not own a pair. Parents are encouraged to support the CPE 1 Skating Program by chaperoning, volunteering to serve on the skating committee, and paying their skating fees promptly at the beginning of the school year.
All CPE children go ice skating once a week through the winter months at Lasker rink in Central Park. This important part of the curriculum is not optional for students. They walk as a class with their teachers and other adults to the skating rink where they spend the morning or afternoon. Physical education is a vital part of a child’s growth and CPE encourages teachers to engage in many outdoor activities. There is a small fee for the ice skating program that can be paid in September or over the course of three months – September, October and November. Scholarships are available, but families must fill out the request in September. There are no qualification requirements.
