Art February 2010 by Tim Lively

Dear Families,

I am always so delighted and encouraged to see and talk with you either when you visit the school/ art room or at our special events like our Winter Concert and Art Exhibition and The Festival of Lights. So many questions arise and as usual there just isn't the time to answer them properly. Your questions tell me that you are interested in a variety of topics - "Why are creative art experiences valuable and valid for the child?", "What kinds of experiences are provided?", "What happens during the art lesson?" and "How do these experiences promote and contribute to future learning throughout the child's total educational life?"

School Closed Today Feb 26 2010

SCHOOL IS CLOSED!!! Snow day.

CPE 1 helps the children of Haiti by participating in a fundraising

Dear Families:

We are sending you these calendars in the hope that you will join us in our latest fund raising effort to help the people of Haiti. This time we ask that you help your children help Haiti’s children by selling CPE1 calendars to family members, friends, and co-workers. Because the calendars contain children's artwork, we believe that they express the creativity and uniqueness of children everywhere and thus are especially appropriate for this undertaking.

We suggest a minimum donation of $5 for each calendar. All the money raised will go to the International Alliance for the Advancement of Children (IAAC), a Brooklyn-based organization that has been working in Haiti since 2003.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
