School Bus

Information regarding yellow school buses and public-transportation passes can be obtained from the Main Office. Children taking the bus home are taken to the pick up location by a teacher assigned to handle the buses and ensure that all children get on the correct bus. Please remember that it takes a while for the bus routine to stabilize and for the drivers to become familiar with their routes. Parents of younger children may prefer to wait a couple of weeks until routes and times become regular before using the service. Drivers will not wait for children in the morning, nor leave a child if there is no adult at the bus stop for pick up. You should get to the bus stop early. If possible, introduce yourself and your child to others at the bus stop, make sure that an adult will stay with your child if you are delayed, and offer to do the same. In recent years, drivers have been enforcing official rules which state that non-bus children will not be allowed on the bus to go home with friends and children carrying class pets will also be denied access.

Children younger than five years are not eligible for yellow bus service. Private bus service is an option for PreK students as well as families living in the Bronx. Any child who is issued a public transportation pass will not be allowed on a yellow school bus. For complaints about bus service, please call the office of Pupil Transportation at 718.392.8855.
