Child Studies and Description of Work

Ongoing use of the descriptive processes developed at Prospect Center enable teachers to work collaboratively to refine their practice and support each child’s academic, social and aesthetic development. Descriptive Review of a Child, Description of Work, and Teacher’s Review of Practice are the processes used most frequently. This work occurs once or twice a month at weekly, after-school meetings. Child Studies (describing the work of an individual child as done over the course of several years) are conducted at Saturday workshops, on Staff Development half-days, and school retreats.
