CPE1: Central Park East 1 Elementary School

Most days students leave their classroom to attend music, art or theater/movement studio classes. A full-time art teacher oversees a curriculum utilizing varied media with a focus on art for art’s sake. The art program also supports school wide and classroom curricula, engaging children in working with different materials. Art and theatre/movement are taught by half classes. The whole school community participates in the weekly All School Sing and the Lower School community participates in singing workshops on a weekly basis. Students also participate in Boys (PreK-5), Girls (PreK-5), and Mixed (3-5) choruses. Weekly workshops are provided in guitar, recorder, and violin. Every class in the school attends music classes and theory and performance. The music curriculum also support classroom curriculum.
